Trip to Ulagan
We woke up at 6:00 a.m. while it was still dark, and we took showers. Then we packed our bags, and put a bunch of the fruit leathers that Granna and Poppa sent to us in our backpack. Then we left our house to go get Chechek. After we got her we went to the church to get some other guys that were going with us to Ulagan. Then we left and we drove about 3-5 hrs. There was a girl named Lena and she's probably fifty-eight years old and has a son that is about 24. I don't know his name and I haven't met him. I think that she slept most of the time. Chechek talked the hole trip there and back and it was really boring; but I had fun when I got out of the car. When we got to Kosh Agach we went to the church. The church only had one room that was as big as Granddads barn and this church was where a lady got healed. Behind the church there was a really big frozen lake and it was frozen all the way to the middle. Dad and I even walked part of the way out onto the ice. Then we walked back to the church. That night a bunch of people came to the church to have bible study and I stayed up until 11:30 p.m. Then we slept at somebody's house and in the morning the person that we were staying with offered us pasta for breakfast! But I just had fruit leathers for breakfast. Then after that we drove home really late at night and slept good all night. It was about minus twenty-two degrees!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your world view through your eyes Dickson! Love getting these glimpses of life for you. You are a very good writer. Keep it up blogger! I love you!!
ReplyDeleteAs told from your perspective is so renewing. It helps me remember how I used to see the world, and how I could/should see it again. For example your walk on the ice with your Dad. He is teaching you , and you are learning to trust a (the) father. Not just through walking on ice. But your whole life in Siberia. I can learn from this. (God is so good to let us learn all life long). But everything you said-not just the ice part-is valuable to me because YOU are telling it and I get to revisit my youth through your story. I love you. Poppa
ReplyDeleteVery interesting story, Dickson! Is ulagan a region? I am so curious to hear about the lady that got healed! Bet you're glad you took fruit leathers! Nothing like a good breakfast! That temperature sounds like Siberia. Suppose the heat wave there is over? ;). I love you! You are a good story-teller! Keep us posted! Xoxo. Nanny
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think so I think it's just a town.
DeleteHey Dickson, Loved your story. Isn't it wonderful how God's glory is all around us no matter where we go, even in "ice". “By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast.” (Job 37:10) Isn't it awesome how God is in control of everything and we can see and feel his presence in the remotest part of the earth. I miss you so much but so very thankful every step you take you're walking with Jesus. Enjoy the journey and be amazed. Love you, Granddad
ReplyDeleteOh yes I also meant to ask you to tell us more of the healing and walking on the ice too. Granna
