SPRING

                                                               Spring

Here spring is really muddy.  It's really deep mud too; deep enough to take your boot off.  It even snows in the spring.  It snows and then it is like spring is supposed to be.  Cheyne and I have been catching a bunch of lizards and letting them go on a big wood pile in our back yard.  These lizards are brown with black stripes on their back, and they also have yellow or orange stomachs.  When the lizards are hibernating they look like they're dead and their mouth looks gross, but Dad said if we just leave them alone they will sometimes come back to life.  This spring I built a new home for our dog Vera.  I put new shiver (concrete roofing) on the roof of her shed and I enclosed the shed.  We Ross kids have been wearing teeshirts.  Cheyne and I have even been taking our shirts off when we work, because it's been so hot.  It's hotter than some people think.

GOING TO THE MUSEUM

                                                              MUSEUM

Friday the 17th of January we went to the museum with our friend Vera and her son Byier.  Our whole family went to the museum. The museum is huge, and it's at least three stories high with a big gold colored moose on the front.  When we went inside it was really shiny, the floors were really mopped, and there was a bunch of fancy stuff.  Then we went to a room where they took our coats and hung them up so we didn't have to carry them all throughout the museum.  So, we put up our coats then we went down stairs.  Down stairs there were cases and cases of stuff like a bunch of different rocks.  For example, turquoise rocks, flint rocks, aero heads, pure gold, diamonds, crystals, sand stone, and different colored rocks that we've never seen before.  Behind the cases of rocks there were bones of all kinds like mammoth tusks that were as big as me or Cheyne.  There was a mammoth skull too. It was twice the size of Rem's head, but it did not look a single bit like the mammoth skulls in THE LION KING. The one we saw looked really different.  There was another skull that I saw and thought it looked like a tyrannosaurus rex skull.  Then we moved to the next room and there was a glass case with wood carvings in it.  For example, there was a guy  that looked kind of like a sumo wrestler because he had really big muscles.  Also, there was a guy holding two goats in each hand.  There were a bunch of paintings that were painted by a famous man named Choros Gurkin. He painted dozens and dozens of paintings, and four rooms in a row were covered with paintings.  Every wall in each room was covered with paintings.  Then we went to the next room.  This room had a bunch of armor and spear heads.  There were statues that had armor and arrows on them and they were holding shields.  Then we went to the next room.  In that room there were two big wooden statues.  One of them looked a lot like Jesus.  The one thing on him that didn't look like him was a symbol; it was a circle with designs in it.  The other one was an old man that had a big beard and the one that looked like Jesus had a beard too.  There was a big door way that led to an even bigger room that had a bunch of fake people showing what the cave men did a long time ago.     Then we went to a room that had stuff that has happened in the past year.  There was a model of Gorno Altaisk, a poster of a famous concert, pictures of famous people, and Olympic medals.  Next, there was a room that had a famous Altai princess that lived long ago.  They found her where it was really cold so she was frozen.  They found her with five dead horses laying on either side of her. The place where she was laying was a wooden coffin.  It really looked like a boat that the indians used long ago.  Then that was the end of the museum.

Trip to Ulagan

                                Trip to Ulagan

We woke up at 6:00 a.m. while it was still dark, and we took showers.  Then we packed our bags, and put a bunch of the fruit leathers that Granna and Poppa sent to us in our backpack.  Then we left our house to go get Chechek. After we got her we went to the church to get some other guys that were going with us to Ulagan.  Then we left and we drove about 3-5 hrs.  There was a girl named Lena and she's probably fifty-eight years old and has a son that is about 24.  I don't know his name and I haven't met him.  I think that she slept most of the time.  Chechek talked the hole trip there and back and it was really boring; but I had fun when I got out of the car.  When we got to Kosh Agach we went to the church.  The church only had one room that was as big as Granddads barn and this church was where a lady got healed.   Behind the church there was a really big frozen lake and it was frozen all the way to the middle.  Dad and I even walked part of the way out onto the ice.  Then we walked back to the church.  That night a bunch of people came to the church to have bible study and I stayed up until 11:30 p.m. Then we slept at somebody's house and in the morning the person that we were staying with offered us pasta for breakfast! But I just had fruit leathers for breakfast.  Then after that we drove home really late at night and slept good all night.  It was about minus twenty-two degrees!!
